We did apparently the Goal zero 3000 battery system died about just before mid-night on sunday. This morning the system was charging but the AC output was offline. Pushing the AC output button it briefly came on then went "RED" indicating an inverter fault. A soft reset holding the info and units button, got the system to reboot but didn't seem to fix the inverter. A hard reset, using the button under the cover (there are two buttons one is a wireless button with wireless icons, the reset is the other) along with the info button , the unit was forced into a hard reset. After coming back online the AC could be turned back on. After waiting a few minutes the load as reconnected and came up. It is not clear why the inverter faulted. My guess is the battery was fully depleted after cloudy days and the system did not come back up properly. But we were not logging the battery levels over the weekend so this is only a guess. It was a struggle of a process to work in the tight/awkward space. On testing after reassembling it was found that the burnt (bottom) shutter snagged and randomly got stuck in mid travel when trying to open. With out fully disassembling the bad shutter it is not clear how to address this issue. It was deemed worse to have it 1/2 closed while taking data vs taking it out of service and leaving it open. This shutter is normal opened expect when forced closed by the solenoid so the software was updated to only control the front good shutter. ___end___ BY berkey: Wed Sep 09 00:34:28 GMT 2026 Skies were poor all day. There may have been a 10 minute window where the cirrus had cleared and the was a gap between some dark rain clouds. unfortunately kcor was apart of the shutter swap when this was noticed.
