Today they will be driving tractors across the lava as they assemble forms and perform back filling of the excavated area where the new NOAA tower and guide wires will be mounted. They informed me that they will be working on site all day, which in the past has meant well into the afternoon. I asked that one of the crew to please knock on the door and inform me just prior to the work commencing so that I may stop the instrument and close the dome and dome area windows. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Oct 12 18:59:22 GMT 2026 Kcor: Due to NOAA Facility construction commencing soon I am going to run the calibration a little earlier than normally. ___end___ Mon Oct 12 19:00:03 GMT 2026 KCOR Start Calibration script: c:\kcor\mlso-calibration22deg-20171025.ini Mon Oct 12 19:15:17 GMT 2026 KCOR End Calibration Script Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Oct 12 19:43:46 GMT 2026 MLSO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-10-12 19:38:00 Temperature : 48.42 deg F Dew Point : 16.68 deg F Pressure : 679.22 mbar Wind Speed : 6.49 mph Wind Direction : 2.7 deg Skies: The sky remains clear with the exception of Orographic clouds now present at lower elevations to the east, north and west. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Oct 12 21:26:34 GMT 2026 MLSO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-10-12 21:20:00 Temperature : 47.39 deg F Dew Point : 39.87 deg F Pressure : 679.54 mbar Wind Speed : 4.47 mph Wind Direction : 294.9 deg Skies: Orographic clouds have moved in from all directions and the entire sky is now heavily overcast at this time with wisps of fog blowing through the area of the observatory. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Oct 12 23:36:44 GMT 2026 MLSO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-10-12 23:32:00 Temperature : 44.6 deg F Dew Point : 43.55 deg F Pressure : 678.59 mbar Wind Speed : 11.41 mph Wind Direction : 357.4 deg Skies: The sky is completely overcast with heavy dense fog present at the observatory area. ___end___ BY mcotter: Mon Oct 12 23:39:51 GMT 2026 End Of Day: Clear sky conditions this morning provided for good observing until NOAA Facility construction began in the mid morning, at which time the dome needed to be closed and observations halted. ___end___ Logger COMMENT BY mcotter: Mon Oct 12 23:39:52 GMT 2026 Log closed ONSITE STAFF: mcotter ___end___
