Very dense fog with rain and drizzle in the Saddle Valley up to approximately 9,500' elevation. Light wind from the southeast. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 16:37:28 GMT 2026 Dome open ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 16:37:37 GMT 2026 Opened windows upstairs ___end___ ** KCOR PM mcotter ** : Tue Jul 07 16:37:45 GMT 2026 Blew off Kcor O1 ___end___ Tue Jul 07 16:49:32 GMT 2026 Kcor Focus/alignment program exited Tue Jul 07 16:56:37 GMT 2026 Kcor Focus/alignment program exited KCOR BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 17:00:27 GMT 2026 Kcor: The sky is a little bright but not too bad; the Kcor instrument is now observing. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 17:07:13 GMT 2026 Skies: Cirrostratus clouds are increasing in the west, but so far they appear to be moving in a northeasterly direction. Some aerosols are visible in the Level 0 and NRGF images. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 17:19:08 GMT 2026 Kcor: The Kcor synoptic images are getting a little brighter. When looking out I cannot see anything in the sky but there may be some thin wisps of Cirrus accounting for this. The images do not look bad, but it is an item that will need to be monitored. The previously reported clouds that are increasing in the west are continuing to move in a northeasterly direction. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 17:33:59 GMT 2026 Unfortunately the bands of Cirrostratus from the west have increased and are now moving in a easterly direction and have moved into the viewing area. Kcor paused due to poor sky conditions. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 17:53:38 GMT 2026 Skies: The wisps of clouds that made their way into the viewing area a beginning to disperse. There do remain some clouds in the vicinity but the are currently not directly in the viewing area. Kcor is again observing. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 19:17:32 GMT 2026 MLSO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-07-07 19:14:00 Temperature : 58.55 deg F Dew Point : -18.36 deg F Pressure : 680.66 mbar Wind Speed : 7.61 mph Wind Direction : 70.3 deg Skies: A very thin layer of Cirrostratus clouds have moved in and it is now in the viewing area. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 19:19:12 GMT 2026 Kcor: A thin layer of Cirrostratus clouds have formed in the viewing area. Due to poor sky conditions the Kcor instrument has been paused. ___end___ KCOR BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 19:47:43 GMT 2026 Kcor: I was hoping that the thin layer of clouds that moved into the viewing area may have been short lived, but the clouds have become prevalent across much of the sky and it does not appear that they are going anywhere at this time. I will continue to closely monitor the sky conditions to see if we may get a break in the clouds. The Kcor observing program has been stopped. ___end___ Weather COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 20:18:26 GMT 2026 MLSO Current Weather Timestamp (UTC): 2026-07-07 20:11:00 Temperature : 60.35 deg F Dew Point : -3.53 deg F Pressure : 680.66 mbar Wind Speed : 10.51 mph Wind Direction : 68.3 deg Skies: The sky has become completely overcast with Cirrostratus clouds and now there is a translucent rainbow halo around the Sun. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY KCOR: Tue Jul 07 20:19:37 GMT 2026 KCOR file transfer report KCor created 655 .bin files 654 .fts files NOTICE ? 1 .bin file(s) with no matching .fts: 20260707_194250_kcor.bin Remote site is complete ? no rsync required. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY mcotter: Tue Jul 07 20:22:32 GMT 2026 Because of poor sky conditions no observation can be done at this time. The Socketcam command window stated that an error had occurred. I suspected that the drive that the socketcam has been sending data to became full again, therefore socket cam had no place to put it's data. I opened the "E" drive and deleted four of the oldest folders of data from April 2026, then I restarted the observing program. The kcor instrument is now observing again with now issues. ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY berkey: Tue Jul 07 22:51:25 GMT 2026 Added the anmiation code user to the cme@ucar.edu google group to allow alerts to start coming from the obsevers again.
