A fix as been applied to address this and spot checking the fits data looks correct. ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY berkey: Mon Sep 21 21:05:22 GMT 2026 entry was edited noaa construction digging next to the observatory has started. ___end___ UCOMP COMMENT BY berkey: Tue Sep 22 01:47:06 GMT 2026 Tested filter wheel control over various USB cables and hubs, it was found that in most configuration the filter wheel would either not work or periodically drop out. switching over to a USB over ethernet cable we found a configuration that allowed control of the filter wheel over extended periods of time with no issues. The (gray) ethernet is partially pulled into the cable wrap onto the spar; this should allow us to observer with out damaging the cable for the next few days; but will allow for quick changes if needed. If we find the filter wheel works well in this configuration we will need to do a better job adding the cable to the wire wrap. More filter wheel testing needed ___end___ KCOR COMMENT BY berkey: Tue Sep 22 01:54:13 GMT 2026 To search for the source of a reported "dark" region in the NE. No object were found in the beam during this inspection, however some discoloration (damage?) of the sun side of the field lens was seen slightly off center toward the SW. During this inspection the lens was removed for photographing; clocking of the spot was not observer/respected during the installation, so in all likelihood it rotated. While the instrument was open the band pass, field lens and modulator surfaces optical surfaces were blown off. And only the band pass filter was observed to have any accumulation of material that suggested a need. (The band pass is fairly far from focus so we do not expect dust on this to show up as spatial features). ___end___ GENERAL COMMENT BY berkey: Tue Sep 22 01:55:22 GMT 2026 Poor day for observing. They also seemed interested in other future instrumentation at MLSO/MLO including working an an FPI with Qian. The TIDDBIT team is associated with Orion Space who made some of the GPS instrumentation that Qian perviously had on site.
